Each year, current and emerging leaders are identified and recruited into the program which kicks off in October with an overnight retreat designed to build teamwork, enhance leadership skills, and examine the societal aspects facing our county. In total, Leadership Lake County is a ten-session program that offers intensive, day-long learning experiences that cover the important impact areas within our community:
Education ~ Media
Healthcare ~ Agriculture
Justice ~ Human Services
Economic Development
Leadership Skills
Arts & Environment
Overall quality of life that makes Lake County special
Additionally, two internships must be completed to graduate. The hands-on experiences include a unique combination of lectures, tours and behind-the-scenes activities all designed to create participation and involvement among members.
The Leadership Lake Alumni organization is a diverse group of individuals. The Alumni Engagement Committee is tasked with developing Alumni-only educational and social networking events during the year. Two events are social-networking opportunities and two are educational forums.
Additionally, alumni are always welcome to attend any of the current year's class days and functions. Miss a day during your Leadership year? Join in with the new class!
Let us know if you are interested in joining this Committee to guide the development of alumni programs. We value your input!

“My experience with Leadership Lake County was rewarding and eye opening. Although a native Lake County resident, I learned about so many programs and opportunities available in our county; that I never would have learned about if not for Leadership Lake County. I was very nervous about joining, because I knew no one (other than fearless leader Maryann), and I am not an outgoing person at first. But I made friendships with my fellow classmates that will last a lifetime. My fellow classmates share a passion for serving the community and are changing the world one project at a time. These are the leaders you want as peers and role models.”

"I was a member of the “Great Class of 1999” never realizing the friendships and business contacts that I carry to this day. Leadership Lake is a program that I encourage other professionals to get involved with.
No matter if you grew up in Lake County or have only lived here a short time, this program provides opportunities to learn about our county inside and out. Lake County has so much to offer and this program provides a once in a lifetime opportunity to see it first hand and to build relationships that you will carry well into the future."

"If you are thinking that you can't afford the time to devote to the Leadership Lake program, it's just the opposite - you can't afford not to be a part of this important program! Although I grew up in Lake County, I had no idea just what an amazing group of people live and work here. You get to meet new people and learn about things outside your regular profession which gives you a much better perspective as a leader.
The connections I made during my class year and beyond have been invaluable to me and my career."
